Today Turkmenistan is celebrating Independence Day for the first time.Let us recall that the decision to mark this date a month earlier to eternalize the closing of the 2017 Asian Games was made at the Elders’ Council held in October 2017.
In honour of the holiday the parade was held. On 28 September the horse racing event is scheduled to be held.
In honour of the 27th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov addressed the country’s residents and extended his greetings, which were published on the website of the state information agency TDH.
On 26 September the President ordered awarding some Turkmen residents with the title “Honorary elder of the people” for “great contribution to strengthening Turkmenistan’s Independence and demonstrating exemplary service”.
Two educators and four female residents were awarded with the order Zenan kalby (Female heart).
The state awards and honorary titles were also awarded to best employees of Turkmenistan’s economy and staff of ministries, agencies and artists.
Let us recall that due to rehearsals of the festive events and a march the residents of Turkmenistan had been experiencing problems with public transport in the past week.
