Turkmenistan celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Amudarya State Nature Reserve

A festive event on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the creation of the Amudarya State Nature Reserve was held in Lebap velayat.

As reports jeyhun.news, the workers of the reserve, representatives of public organizations and nature lovers participated in the celebrations.

The work of the Amudarya Reserve, established in 1982, is aimed at preserving the ecological system of the middle course of the Amudarya River and the territories adjacent to it. The tasks also include scientific work on the development of approaches to the protection of nature in the region.

The reserve includes an area of 48,3 thousand hectares within the Darganata, Dyanevsk and Farab etraps.

The reserve also includes the Kelif reserve, created to protect migratory birds wintering in the wetlands of the southern etraps and on the Kelif lakes. The reserve covers an area of 103 thousand hectares in the territories of the Kerki and Halach etraps.
