Turkmenistan Delivers Tomatoes to Astrakhan

The first batch of fresh tomatoes from Turkmenistan has arrived in Russia directly by sea via the North-South Transport Corridor to the Olya checkpoint in Astrakhan. This was reported by official media of Astrakhan on Thursday.

This ferry voyage from the port of Turkmenbashi, carrying 40 trucks loaded with fresh tomatoes, marks a significant milestone in the development of maritime transportation between the two countries.

Special container bodies maintaining the necessary temperature regime were used to ensure the safety of perishable goods.

According to the report, the ferry returned to Turkmenistan carrying 800 tons of Belarusian cheese, Russian dairy products, and other goods.

In late January of the previous year, Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan OJSC and Russia's Lotus Special Economic Zone JSC signed a Memorandum on the implementation of an investment project to establish a logistics center of Turkmenistan in the port special economic zone of the Astrakhan region.
