Turkmenistan determined to boost Iran ties, president says

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow expressed his country’s determination to promote cooperation with Iran.

According to Tasnim news agency, in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Ashgabat on Thursday, Berdimuhamedow voiced support for the political, economic and cultural relations with Iran.

He also reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s resolve to enhance cooperation with Iran.

For his part, the top Iranian diplomat expounded on various aspects of relations between Tehran and Ashgabat in the political, economic and cultural fields, and highlighted the significance of ties between the two neighbors.

Zarif is in Turkmenistan on the final leg of his tour of Central Asia that took him to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
