Turkmenistan develops its new National Human Rights Action Plan

The Draft National Human Rights Action Plan for 2021-2025 was considered today by the members of the Interagency Commission on Turkmenistan’s international obligations on human rights and international humanitarian law

The meeting participants also discussed the Action Plan for the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law in the country for 2021-2023, prepared by the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan. This project provides for measures to raise awareness of the population in this area, improve the knowledge of civil servants, specialists working in the field of international humanitarian law.

During the meeting, it was proposed to create a Working Group on the Legal Regulation of Human Rights in the Sphere of Mass Media, Migration, Freedom of Religion and Other Spheres under the Interagency Commission.

Representatives of international organizations accredited in Ashgabat, heads of the Regional Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia and the Central Asia Regional Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross also took part in the meeting by video link.
