Turkmenistan European Union: new horizons for cooperation

The Turkmenistan-European Union business forum, entitled New horizons for cooperation, investment, and sustainable growth, was recently held at the Yyldyz hotel in the capital.The event brought together senior representatives of the Turkmen government, the EU diplomatic corps, international financial institutions, and heads of leading companies to discuss strategic partnerships within the framework of the Global Gateway initiative.

The program of the forum was divided into thematic blocks covering key aspects of economic cooperation, such as improving the business climate, transport connectivity, green transition, and decarbonisation.During the forum, Mr.

Joachim Fritz, GIZ Coordinator in Turkmenistan, noted in particular: Our partnership with Turkmenistan is reaching a qualitatively new level, where the environmental agenda and economic development are inextricably linked.

The forum became a unique platform for transforming diplomatic dialogue into concrete investment projects that will lay the foundation for a sustainable future for the region.During the formal part of the forum, two documents were signed.

A protocol was signed amending the Memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of energy of Turkmenistan, the SC Turkmengaz and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH German society for international cooperation, as well as a protocol amending the Memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of energy of Turkmenistan and GIZ.

The event concluded with a press conference and a series of business meetings, where participants discussed specific steps to implement joint initiatives.
