Turkmenistan Exports Over 23 Thousand Tons of Diesel to Ukraine

Turkmenistan supplied 23.4 thousand tons of diesel to Ukraine in January-May 2021, UkrRudProm information and analytical portal reported on Tuesday with reference to a study by the A-95 Consulting Group.

Turkmenistan became the third largest diesel exporter to Ukraine through seaports, behind Turkey (34.7 thousand tons) and Greece (also 34.7 thousand tons). Ukraine also imported diesel via sea from Israel (3.6 thousand tons) and Malaysia (4.8 thousand tons).

In May 2021, Ukraine decreased its diesel imports by 17% compared to the same period last year.

A-95 Consulting Group noted that the decrease was due to a sharp decline in global prices for oil and oil products in April-May 2020, which resulted in Ukraine purchasing about 130 thousand tons in excess of operational requirements and storing them at oil depots.

In late February, representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine held a video conference meeting, in which the Ukrainian delegation expressed interest in creating a logistics center on the territory of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
