Whilst Turkmenistan prevents semi trucks from Turkey and Iran from going through its border to Tajikistan for unknown reasons, the session of the Federation of Carrier and Forwarder Associations was held in Ashgabat.
The event held on 4 September brought together delegations from China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, as well as the representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Customs Organization (WCO), the UN as well as logistics companies and agencies.
According to the state information agency TDH, “thanks to the constructive policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov the establishment of transportation corridors in Turkmenistan and across Central Asia plays a pivotal role from the perspective of accomplishing the goals of reviving the Great Silk Road”.
Let us recall that since late August trucks from Iran and Turkey have been unable to cross the Turkmen border to ship the cargo to Tajikistan.Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transportation forwarded an official letter to the authorities of Turkmenistan but has received no response so far.
