Turkmenistan Inaugurates Seawater Desalination Facility

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Balkan province, where he participated in the groundbreaking of a urea production complex with an annual capacity of 1.155 million tons in Turkmenbashy district, as well as the TurkmenbashyGarabogazgol Bay highway section leading to the Kazakhstan border.

The president also attended the inauguration of a desalination facility in Esenguly district with a daily capacity of 20,000 cubic meters and a road bridge across Garabogaz Bay.

Amid applause from ceremony participants, President Berdimuhamedov gave his blessing for the opening of the new facility.

Under the National Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the transformation of social and living conditions in villages, settlements, and district centers through 2028, modern water infrastructure is being constructed and commissioned across all provinces.

A vivid example of this initiative is the newly inaugurated desalination facility, located on an 8-hectare site and equipped with advanced European technologies. The plant can produce 20,000 cubic meters of clean drinking water from seawater daily.
