Turkmenistan intends to foster contacts with Palestine’s businesses

President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov

The website Turkmenistan.ru reports Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry hosted negotiations with the official delegation from Palestine, headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine Mazen Shamiya.

According to the news outlet, political and diplomatic collaboration as well as trade and economy were among priority partnership areas. Special attention was paid to facilitating contacts between business entities of the two countries.

It should be emphasized that Turkmenistan’s officials hold meetings with their Palestinian counterparts on a regular basis.

In November 2016 the meeting between Presidents Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and Mahmoud Abbas was held in Ashgabat.

The one-on-one negotiations were held behind closed doors.

However, no joint projects or close cooperation in any areas based on the outcomes of negotiations have been mentioned.
