Turkmenistan, Iran Mull Increase of Cargo Flows in Caspian Sea

Representative of ports and state entities of Turkmenistan and Iran in an online talks discussed the issues of increasing cargo flows in the Caspian Sea, the official media of Turkmenistan reported on Sunday with reference to the Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat.

The Turkmen side was represented by the deputy head of the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) Agency Anna Durdiyev and the Iranian side was represented by the Director General for transit, logistics and agreements of the Port and Maritime Organization of Iran Khosro Saraee.

The sides also discussed the possibilities of expanding transport cooperation between the Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Iranian ports of Amirabad, Nowshahr and Anzali.

The officials emphasized the commitment of Turkmenistan and Iran to building up partnerships in the transport-transit sphere.

In early May of this year, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Iran Ahmet Gurbanov and Managing Director of Iran’s Khazar Exploration and Production Company (KEPCO) Ali Osouli held a meeting in Tehran to discuss the expansion of cooperation between the countries in the oil industry.
