Turkmenistan, Iraq Discuss Enhancing Energy, Transport, Petrochemical Ties

On July 16, 2024, a meeting occurred at the Embassy of Iraq in Abu Dhabi between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the UAE, Serdar Garajayev, and the Ambassador of Iraq, Dr. Mudhafar Al-Jbori.

The parties discussed the current development of relations between Turkmenistan and Iraq, including the recent visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq to Turkmenistan and the signing of a contract for the supply of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Iraq through the territory of Iran under the SWAP scheme.

The main topic of discussion was the participation of the Leadership of the Republic of Iraq in the International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to the 300th birthday anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, which will be held in October 2024 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

In addition, the parties discussed future bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy, transport, and petrochemical sectors. They agreed to continue diplomatic work to strengthen cooperation in various fields, such as economy, culture, and education.

Both parties agreed to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation.
