Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan to Hold Business Forum

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic Shadurdy Meredov proposed to hold a Turkmenistan-Kyrgyzstan business forum at a meeting with the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Kyrgyzstan Marat Sharshekeyev on Monday.

Sharshekeyev supported the initiative of Meredov to hold a business forum between entrepreneurs of the two countries and offered to organize it in June this year, according to the Kyrgyz CCI press release on the meeting.

"We would like to see the trade turnover indicators grow further. We are ready to consider various proposals of Kyrgyz entrepreneurs on the export of their products," Meredov said, adding that "for our part, I can say that greenhouse industry, production of polypropylene and polyethylene products is actively developing in Turkmenistan."

Focusing on an agreement between the heads of the two countries on the establishment of the $100 million Kyrgyz-Turkmen Development Fund, the Turkmen Ambassador said at this stage, a joint project of construction of a residential building with a shopping complex in Bishkek is being considered.

There are also plans to create joint ventures and open a Trading House of Turkmenistan in Bishkek, according to the Turkmen envoy.

The Turkmen Ambassador said the trade turnover between the two countries has visibly increased in recent years and more than doubled in 2021, amounting to more than $80 million.

The Turkmenistan-Kyrgyzstan is expected to take place online.
