Turkmenistan Launches First Domestic Cargo Ship

Turkmenistan launched its first domestically built cargo ship, Gadamly, on November 4, according to the Ministry of Education. The vessel has a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons.

Designed for container transport, Gadamly will operate among Caspian Sea countries, contributing to the development of the transport sector and the national economy.

The ship was constructed jointly by the Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant JSC and South Korea’s Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co.

In May of last year, the two companies signed contracts for the design and joint construction of two bulk carriers, each with a capacity of 6,100 tons.
