Turkmenistan Launches Information Portal on Cross-Border Trade

The Information Portal on Cross-border Trade was officially launched on Tuesday at the Exhibition of Trade Complex of Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen media reported.

Representatives of Turkmenistan's Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso, and Head of the Trade Promotion and Business Policy Section of the International Trade Center Mohammad Saeed attended the ceremony.

Turkmenistan’s Trade Information Portal is an online platform containing over 250 sample forms and documents (licenses, permits, and certificates) required for import, export, and transit procedures, “Neytralnyy Turkmenistan” newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The portal provides access to transparent cross-border trade procedures for all five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan).

The International Trade Center created a digital trade platform as part of the Ready4Trade Central Asia project, with United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) assistance and in collaboration with Turkmen Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations.

Around 30 countries use the online platform. It promotes adherence to WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation Article 1.2 and simplifies trade facilitation.
