Turkmenistan Looks to Extend Contract on Electricity Exports to Afghanistan

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Afghanistan Hoja Ovezov in a meeting with Acting Minister of Energy and Water of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour assured his country’s preparation to extend the Afghanistan electricity supply contract, the Kabul Times newspaper reported on Sunday.

The sides discussed and exchanged views on the cooperation between the two countries, the continuation and development of the import electricity program from Turkmenistan.

The meeting also considered cooperation in electricity projects in Khomab and Qarqin districts of Jawzjan province.

In January this year, Afghanistan has signed a contract with Turkmenistan for the expansion of the capacity of Noor-ul-Jahad substation in its western province of Herat.
