Turkmenistan Opens Four New Passenger Bus Stations

New modern passenger bus stations opened in Turkmenistan’s Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary provinces on Saturday, on the eve of the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, the country’s official media reports.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremonies of the bus stations via the video link.

The Head of State said the transport sector greatly contributes to the social and economic development of the country and enhances mutually beneficial cooperation with neighboring countries. Expressing confidence that the new passenger bus stations will serve the people of Turkmenistan for many years, President Berdimuhamedov blessed their opening.

The passenger bus stations were built by the Balkanawtoulag, Daşoguzawtoulag, Lebapawtoulag and Maryawtoulag associations of Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport) Agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

The total area of each of the facilities is 30 thousand square meters. They are designed to serve 700 passengers per day. The open and covered parking lots with the area of 2,150 and 2,100 square meters can accommodate 100 and 112 vehicles respectively.

The Turkmen media said the modern bus stations with all necessary facilities such as administrative buildings, parking lots and digital service points provide optimal comfort for passengers.

During the cabinet meeting on Friday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on purchase of 1,000 medium-class Toyota Coaster buses and 250 Toyota Hiace minibuses, as well as spare parts and consumables.
