Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, participated Wednesday in the seventh EUCentral Asia dialogue on Afghanistan in Brussels. During the session, he presented Turkmenistan’s peace initiative, based on the country’s policy of positive neutrality and good-neighborliness, according to the Turkmen Embassy in Belgium.
Palvanov said Afghanistan’s stability is directly linked to economic development, regional integration, and the implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at improving living conditions.
The forum brought together representatives from regional countries and European Union institutions to discuss sustainable development, humanitarian assistance, and regional connectivity.
In preparation for the meeting, Palvanov held working sessions with EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduard Stiprais and EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan Gilles Bertrand.
European officials highlighted the importance of the EUCentral Asia platform on Afghanistan and expressed interest in practical measures undertaken by countries in the region.
The TAPI gas pipeline project, designed to connect energy suppliers and consumers across Central and South Asia, received particular focus.
Other infrastructure initiatives were also discussed, including electricity transmission projects and the expansion of Turkmen electricity exports to Afghanistan under existing agreements.
Participants confirmed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation aimed at developing sustainable economic links, cross-border collaboration, and the implementation of projects in energy, transport, and water resources.
