Turkmenistan’s Major Refinery Starts Production of Jet A-1 Aviation Fuel

Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR) announced that it started the production of Jet A-1 aviation fuel, the European analogue of aviation kerosene presently under production at the refinery TC-1.

The new fuel meets international aviation standards and is certified by the Türkmenstandartlary (Turkmen Standards) Main State Service, the TCOR reported on its website on Friday.

The new fuel’s production is carried out at the existing plant with a capacity of 525 thousand tons of products per year, which was put into operation in 2008. The project was designed and supplied by the American company Merichem Chemicals Refinery Services LLC. Assembly and installation of the supplied equipment was carried out by Turkmen specialists.

The first batch of Jet A-1 fuel, produced as a result of deep purification of raw materials, will be sold through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.

Jet A-1 is used in gas turbine engines of civil aviation aircraft in Europe, U.S. and Canada, including Airbus and Boeing airliners.
