Turkmenistan’s President Sends Condolence to Xi Over Hong Kong Fire

Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov offered condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping following a fire at a residential complex in Hong Kong’s Special Administrative Region that left numerous dead and injured, Turkmen official media reported Thursday.

He conveyed sincere sympathy and support to the families and loved ones of those who perished and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, on behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan and personally.

As of Nov. 28, the death toll from the fire in Hong Kong had risen to 94, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the city’s fire department.

The blaze broke out Wednesday at the Wang Fuk Court residential complex, which consists of eight high-rise buildings. One building was largely unaffected, while the other seven were completely engulfed in flames.
