Turkmenistan Sends Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake Victims in Afghanistan

Turkmenistan has sent humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan affected by a strong earthquake, the official Turkmen media reported on Tuesday.

The humanitarian aid was sent with the support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.

The aid includes medical drugs and supplies, textiles and foodstuffs.

The powerful earthquake struck in Afghanistan’s Herat province on October 7, 2023. The Turkish TV channel TRT Haber, citing the Afghan government, informed that the earthquake killed about 2,500 people and injured thousands more.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, another two earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.3 and 5 struck the north and northwest of Afghanistan's Herat province on October 11.
