Turkmenistan take part at the 17th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee

As we reported earlier, the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO started today in Rabat.

Turkmenistan at the session is represented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to France Maksat Charyev, who is also the Permanent Representative to the UNESCO, and Executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chynar Rustemova, reports the press-service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France.

Among the 46 applications submitted for inclusion in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, applications submitted on the initiative and with the participation of Turkmenistan will be considered: “Turkmen embroidery art”, “Sericulture and traditional silk production for weaving” and “Traditions of retelling jokes of Khoja Nasreddin”.

In addition, 4 applications for inclusion in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Protection will be considered.

We remind that for today, the Representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO includes the Turkmen folk art "Gorogly", the art of singing and dancing “kushtdepdi”, the Turkmen national art of carpet weaving, the craft of making dutar and performing musical art on it and the art of bahshi.
