The country’s steel mainline linking the capital with the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi is set to undergo comprehensive modernization.This was reported during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov via a digital system.
A report on the development of the transport and logistics system was delivered by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers M.Chakyev.The Vice Premier emphasized that the AshgabatTurkmenbashi railway is a crucial link in integrating national transport routes into international corridors such as “Lapis Lazuli”, TRACECA, “NorthSouth”, and “EastWest”.
Modernization of this line will make it possible to significantly enhance Turkmenistan’s transit potential and strengthen its position within international transport corridors.After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the development of modern logistics infrastructure is one of the key objectives of the country’s socio-economic strategy.
The head of state approved the proposal for comprehensive reconstruction of the mainline and instructed the Vice Premier to carry out work in this direction.
