Turkmenistan to Build Underground Gas Storage Facilities

Shahym Abdrakhmanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government overseeing the country's oil-gas industry, during the online cabinet meeting hosted by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday reported on the ongoing work to construct underground gas storage facilities in Turkmenistan.

The Vice-Premier informed that such a project is planned to be implemented in Turkmenistan for the first time, the official Turkmen media reports.

Turkmen Government intends to attract international consulting companies to organize and implement the project in accordance with international practices, as well as to prepare a feasibility study, design, equipment and construction.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of rational and efficient use of gas resources and the need to take measures to further increase cooperation with reliable foreign partners.

The government meeting discussed priority issues of state affairs and considered drafts documents.
