Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries and the “Group of Seven”

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Berdyniyaz Matiyev took part in the meeting of the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Central Asia and the “Group of Seven”, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was held online under the chairmanship of Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa with the participation of the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, and France.

The participants exchanged views on key issues of the regional and international agenda. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of peace and security, economic development, “green” transformation and sustainable use of energy resources.

The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted in his speech that interaction between the countries of Central Asia and the G7 should be built on the basis of mutual respect, as well as taking into account the characteristics and needs of each country.

He expressed confidence that the existing potential for cooperation can be used to maintain peace and stability in the region.

The Turkmen side drew attention to a number of initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, which are relevant for the development of interaction between the Central Asian states and the G7.

In particular, the potential for partnership in the fields of energy, transport, climate change and the supply of Turkmen gas to Europe was noted.
