Uzbek rescuers in Türkiye provided medical assistance to almost 3900 citizens

A plane with 60 servicemen on board, who took part in search and rescue operations in Türkiye, landed in Tashkent, writes CentralAsia.news.

Rescuers from the detachment of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, who took part in the liquidation of the devastating earthquake in Türkiye, provided medical assistance to almost 3900 citizens, including 1795 men, 1177 women and 888 children.

The military personnel of the Ministry of Defense arrived in Türkiye on February 8 on behalf of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

They were in Türkiye for 24 days. Uzbek rescuers assisted in clearing rubble, searching for victims and providing first aid to victims of natural disasters.

On February 6, 2023, with an interval of nine hours, two powerful earthquakes occurred in the southeast of Türkiye. The epicenter of the first, with a magnitude of 7,8, was in Gaziantep, the epicenter of the second, with a magnitude of 7,5, was in Kahramanmarash.

As a result of the disaster, more than 45 968 people died in Türkiye, and 8 476 people died in Syria, and tens of thousands more were injured. Türkiye declared a state of emergency and seven days of mourning.
