Vegetable oil re-appears on the counters of Ashgabat stores

Sunflower oil of the Russian brand “Sloboda” has appeared on the counters of privately-owned stores in Ashgabat. It is available in “Milli market” retail chain at the price of 45 manats per a 1- liter bottle (equivalent to $2 at “black market” rate or $13 at the official rate).

In early May the capital experienced a shortage of vegetable oil in both state-run and privately-owned stores. Only olive oil at the price of 70 to 80 manats was available.

On 6 May, 2020 correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” reported that 30 railroad tank cars with vegetable oil arrived at the Akhal oil production mill.

An employee of the transportation and logistics centre of Turkmenistan’s Railways said that 70-ton tanks are filled with vegetable oil which will be bottled into a 1 liter bottles at the mill.
