Swedish automaker Volvo has completed production of diesel cars with the launch of the superb XC90. But this car will not go to any customer of the company, but will take pride of place in the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg. This was reported by tochka.by with reference to Motor1.com.
The last production diesel Volvo rolled off the assembly line at the Torslanda plant on March 26. It will become a symbol of the era of dominance of internal combustion engines, reminiscent of the “crazy times of burning fuel”.
Volvo announced plans to abandon diesel cars back in 2017. In February 2024, the Belgian plant in Glent produced the last Volvo V60 diesel station wagon. By 2030, the company will completely switch to the production of electric vehicles.
However, Volvo is confident that it can offer customers many attractive non-diesel alternatives.
