WHO/Europe consultants conducted training in Ashgabat on laboratory biosafety

WHO Regional Office for Europe consultants Gulmira Kalmambetova and Alexander Jaguparov conducted a training course on biosafety and biosecurity in laboratories for representatives of the health and veterinary services of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.

According to the MIC, the training was organized by the country office of the World Health Organization in Turkmenistan.

The quality of laboratory services is paramount to public health security in every country, and the strengthening of these systems should be based on the implementation of national laboratory quality standards.

A comprehensive quality management system ensures that laboratories comply with recognized biosafety and biosecurity standards and regulations.

In this regard, WHO has developed a number of relevant tools and training courses, one of which is the WHO Laboratory Biosafety Guide.
