WTO accession strategies discussed at OSCE seminar in Ashgabat

On November 6-7, 2024, a two-day OSCE seminar was held in Ashgabat to exchange experiences in developing effective strategies for joining the World Trade Organization, nCa reports.

International experts presented successful practices of OSCE participating States at the preparatory stage of negotiations on WTO membership. Particular attention was paid to issues of pricing, management of national resources within the framework of WTO rules and protection of interests of individual industries.

Olivera Zurowak-Kuzman, Head of the Economic and Environmental Department of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, noted the active cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan in the area of economic integration and trade facilitation. She stressed the importance of supporting the country's efforts in the process of accession to the WTO.

The event was attended by representatives of key government agencies of Turkmenistan, including the Mejlis, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Agency for Transport and Communications, the State Customs Service, as well as representatives of the business community.

The seminar is organized within the framework of the implementation of OSCE Ministerial Council Decision No. 4/16 “Strengthening good governance and promoting connectivity”, aimed at supporting the integration of participating States into the international economic system.
