Young scientists of Turkmenistan are intensifying international cooperation in the field of seismology

The Youth Council of the Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan promotes the expansion of international contacts of Turkmen seismologists, writes the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

The work carried out by the Council is aimed at strengthening the innovative potential of national science and increasing its role in solving practical problems.

In 2023, representatives of the Institute made working visits to Japan, China, Tajikistan, and Belarus. Young specialists completed internships and advanced training courses in Vienna. Turkmen scientists also took part in international conferences on the problems of earthquake-resistant construction.

Cooperation with Chinese colleagues is actively developing - an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with the Institute of Seismology under the Earthquake Administration of China is being prepared.

An agreement was reached with the Armenian side on the installation of equipment at the seismic station being created in the city of Arkadag. Preparations are underway to conclude a memorandum with the Institute of Seismology of Uzbekistan.

Much attention is paid to the practical application of research results - the development of seismic maps and standards for the construction of new cities and villages in Turkmenistan.
