Youth of Turkmenistan takes part in a regional eco-camp in Samarkand

From October 1 to 5, the Central Asian Youth Ecological Camp is being held in Samarkand, in which Turkmen representatives also take part.

According to newscentralasia.net, the youth forum is aimed at developing a Central Asian strategy to promote a culture of sustainable development and involve children and youth in the climate agenda.

The camp brought together more than 60 youth environmental activists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan ahead of COP-28 - the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change Convention, which will be held from November 30 to December 12 in the United Arab Emirates.

During the five days of the camp, lectures are organized here on the following topics: “Climate in Central Asia” from UNICEF, “Regional issues and measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change” from UNDP, “Declaration on Children” from UNICEF, “GEP Initiative” from UNESCO, “Practical cases of projects of a regional scale”, “Introductory lecture on regional strategy” from the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Education of Uzbekistan.

There will also be work in groups on the road map of Central Asia, a chess tournament of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk Road”, discussion and presentation of the results of work in teams, and the game Eco-Zakovat.

Presentations will be held for the participants: the Eco-Schools project “Eco Education in Uzbekistan” and eco-educational programs in Central Asia from representatives of foreign delegations; “Silk Road” University on the Road Map of Central Asia and “Sustainable Practices and Traditions of the Peoples of Central Asia”.

Young eco-leaders will take part in planting trees on the territory of the “Silk Road” University.

Excursions to the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex, the tourist village of Konigil and the historical sights of Samarkand are organized for participants of the eco-camp, the source notes.
