President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.Cordially greeting each other, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the high level of the traditional interstate dialogue, which is based on the inviolable ties of friendship, the historical, cultural and spiritual affinity of the two fraternal peoples.

During the conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev specified the priority areas of the strategic Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation, paying particular attention to the implementation of the bilateral agreements and the opportunities for the further diversification of mutually beneficial relations.

The leaders of the two states expressed belief that the existing tremendous potential of the diversified partnership and its solid regulatory basis that has significantly strengthened during the last years provided a powerful foundation for the implementation of new ambitious joint projects that meet the goals of the economic prosperity of the two countries and the whole region.

It was underlined that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are united by the centuries-old good-neighborly relations, actively developing in the modern epoch.The Great Silk Road that is reviving in the new format at present has run through the territory of our countries since ancient times.

This factor, as well as the favourable geographic location of the two countries at the important intersection of the regional and intercontinental lines of communication promote the coordinated Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation on the development of the transit and transport corridors along the routes “West-East” and “North-South”.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the significant role of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission in enhancing and developing the efficient mechanisms of cooperation in various spheres of economy, increasing the volumes of the mutual commodity circulation, promoting the investment activity and strengthening the business contacts.

The relations between the border areas of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have received new impetus for development in recent time.The industrial sector, as well as the agro-industrial complex were specified among the promising areas of the partnership.

In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the document for the purchase of the agricultural equipment, produced in Uzbekistan that has proved itself in the soil and climatic conditions of our country, was signed.

Cooperation in humanitarian area stands as an integral part of the interstate dialogue.Various cultural and creative events are held on a regular basis, the traditional educational and scientific relations are actively developing.

There are wide opportunities for the cooperation in the areas of sports and tourism.The leaders of the two states exchanged the views on the important international aspects that are of particular interests for our countries.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan stand as co-thinkers and reliable partners while developing their approaches to address the priority issues of the regional and global agenda, first of all, with regards to the universal peace and security, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In conclusion of the telephone conversation, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed belief that the spirit of friendship, fraternity, mutual understanding and trust would be contained in the constructive dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan and expressed the best wishes to each other and the peoples of the two countries.

The telephone conversation took place on the initiative of Uzbekistan.
