19.01.2018 | Priorities of TurkmenKorean Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Discussed in Ashgabat

The National Parliament hosted a meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Korea, headed by the leader of the KoreaTurkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, member of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee, Park Daechul.

During the meeting, the guests were briefed on the principle objectives of our country’s highest legislative body, its structure and spheres of activity in the light of extensive socio-economic transformations initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

As stressed, by now Turkmenistan has created a solid legislative framework.The Parliament’s activity, along with accession to the most important UN Conventions, comprehensively promotes Turkmenistan’s successful integration into the global legal environment.

Documents, drafted and adopted, are aimed at strengthening the legislative foundation of the democratic, secular state governed by the rule of law; at giving greater dynamics to Turkmenistan’s economic and social development; at advancing its international standing; at ensuring human and civil rights.

Effective work of our country’s Parliament in the field of national legal implementation of international law was also noted.The sides discussed priority areas and future potential of inter-parliamentary cooperation that promotes progressive development of the TurkmenKorean interstate relations.

In this context, the importance of TurkmenKorean friendship groups functioning under the National Parliament of Turkmenistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea with the purpose of helping expand bilateral contacts and exchange experience in law-making was stressed.

Particularly, the sides dwelled on the activity of members of parliaments of the two countries in the field of safeguarding human rights and developing international ties.Having discussed the prospects of cooperation between the National Parliament of Turkmenistan and the legislative body of the Republic of Korea in several important fields, participants reiterated their interest in the further development of the constructive dialog. * * * Perspectives of cooperation also dominated the discussion at today’s meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
