27.12.2018 | Training Centre for various directions of Turkmen diplomacy is opened

The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the opening ceremony of Training Centre for various directions of diplomacy of our country.The foundation of new Centre has been initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers on December 20.

In the context of priority vectors of foreign strategy of Turkmenistan, the Head of the State noted growing role of transport and energy diplomacy.Our country has already gained significant experience in this sphere.

However, the time does not stay still and requires scientifically grounded methods and training of qualified specialists who have to understand the objectives and have specific and various negotiations with partners, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

For this purpose, it was decided to establish special Training Centre for the most topical directions of Turkmen diplomacy under the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After opening of the Centre, the training of highly qualified personnel in the sphere of international relations will enter new level, research and analytical work carried out by the Institute will be improved and practical component of the Institute activity will be enhanced accordingly with the time requirements.

Heads of diplomatic missions and embassies of Turkmenistan to foreign countries, deputies of National Parliament, political scientists, representatives of international structures and organizations, number of ministries and departments, public organizations, mass media, professors, tutors and student of national universities took part in the conference timed to the 10th anniversary of the Institute of International Relations.

The reports of the speakers gave characteristics to the main stages and outcomes of work of the Institute as well as discussed further activity of the Institute in the context of fulfilment of the assignments given by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The decision on foundation of own high educational institute in 2008, which is to train the specialists in international relations, has become timely and visionary measure that was dictated by current requirements of internal development of Turkmenistan and by international realities, conditions of modern dynamic course of global processes.

Having declared the course toward wide cooperation, transparency of Turkmenistan to the world, the Head of the State followed that implementation of these objectives would require systematic training of qualified specialists, real professionals who are able to present our country deservingly at the world arena.

Fulfilment of these goals has been entrusted to the Institute of International Relations, the participants noted.Last year has demonstrated that development of the Institute and approaches to the formation of educational process were selected according to the time requirements.

At present time, profile specialization of the Institute meet the priorities of international cooperation of Turkmenistan and objectives of its full integration to modern international processes.The speakers noted that 470 specialists have been graduated from the Institute for 10 year.

They successfully works now in various spheres like diplomacy, economy, law, financial and banking section, mass media.According to the initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at constructive development and consolidation of foreign course, the Institute improves its methods of education and carries out scientific and research work.

Active involvement of specialists of central structure of the Foreign Ministry, heads and personnel of the embassies, consulates and representative offices of Turkmenistan at international organizations, which regularly give lectures, hold seminars, is an important element of education.

Veterans of diplomatic services, which share their rich experience with the students, make special contribution to the activity of the Institute.Owing to the attention of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Institute has impressive equipment and facility base.

New building of the Institute provided with the latest equipment, high technology computer classes allowing using innovative educational methods has been opened in September.Growing international relations are the main factor of successful activity of the institute.

At present, the Institute successfully cooperates with profile high educational facilities, diplomatic academies and schools of different countries based on signed agreements.Our partners include such famous and competent educational facilities as Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Institute of Diplomatic Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, the Institute of Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Romania Diplomatic Institute, National Institute of Diplomatic Service of the Foreign Department of Argentina and many other.

The Institute actively cooperates with representatives of competent international organizations in Turkmenistan.Acting Permanent Coordinator of the UN and Permanent Representative of the UNDP in our country Mrs Natia Natsvlishvili said in her speech that for the last few years, the Institute of International Relations has become the main partner of the United Nations representative in Turkmenistan for work with students.

This is indicated by numerous events held in the Institute.It includes student debates on various themes, lectures hold by the representatives of the UN agencies in Turkmenistan and international experts, thematic exhibition, conferences and round table meetings on current subjects of the world agenda.

Promotion and improvement of awareness of wide levels of population about Global Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development and its Goals are the main direction of cooperation between the UN and the Institute of International Relations, Mrs Natsvlishvili noted.

This was brightly indicated by the month of activities on Sustainable Development Goals in October 2018 to mark one thousand days of the adoption of Global agenda 2030.Hundreds of students from all leading educational institutes of the country have been involved to this event together with the Institute of International Relations.

In addition, such events like the UN Debates, the UN Model, practical seminars on Sustainable Development Goals, training for representatives of banking and private sectors on innovative forms of financing of the SDGs, essay contest “Young Messengers of the SDGs” and other have been held.

Therefore, knowledge about Global Agenda 2030 has been spread around the population including children by fruitful cooperation, Mrs Natsvlishvili highlighted.Having mentioned the timeliness of the decision of the Head of the State on opening of the Centre, the participants of the event highlighted that work of new organization would improve scientific and search potential of one of the leading educational facilities of the country.

Lectures on energy, water and transport diplomacy of Turkmenistan, which are based on the system of modern vision of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on global problems, have been held on the first day.
