UNDP and the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan sign Work Plan

The ceremony of signing the Work Plan of the project on providing assistance in the implementation of the 2020 National Action Plan on Human Rights between the UNDP Office in our country and the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

From the Turkmen side, the document was signed by Director of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, Yagmur Nuriyev,and from the UNDP side - by Acting UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Natia Natsvlishvili.

The main goal of the project is to ensure the protection of human rights in our country in accordance with international treaties and the implementation of the 2016-2020 National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on Human Rights.

The meeting participants underlined that Turkmenistan took concrete measures to ensure further democratization of society, strengthen the legal foundations of the state.

The adopted Work Plan is aimed at studying international experience in preparing national periodic UN reports on human rights, developing a draft of a new Action Plan, as well as raising awareness on human rights among government officials, students and the population.
