Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that last week 30 railroad tank cars with vegetable oil arrived at the Akhal oil production mill.
An employee of the transportation and logistics centre of Turkmenistan’s Railways reported that 70-ton tanks are filled with vegetable oil “Oleina”. It will be bottled into a 1 liter bottled at the mill but it is not clear under which brand it will be supplied to local markets.
“Akhal” or “Oleina” vegetable oil is neither available at state-run stores nor at privately-owned retail outlets. Overall, the vegetable oil at affordable prices is not available for residents and customers can purchase only olive oil.
Let us recall that in early April Akhal oil production mill resumed its operations after having being idle for a month and a half and cotton seed oil “Akhal”, popular among residents, have again appeared on the counters of stores.
Swindlers took advantage of the situation to pump out original oil from the bottles and fill them out with cheap substitute oilby making small holes at the bottom of a plastic bottle.
Law enforcement authorities have initiated the investigation to look into the case.
