A meeting between the leadership of the customs service of Turkmenistan and the Secretary General of the WCO was held in Ashgabat

The other day there was a meeting between the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya, who visited Ashgabat to participate in celebrations on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the country’s independence.

As reported on the State Customs Service website, the meeting took place in the building of the Central Office of the Customs Service.

The parties exchanged views on the achieved level of interaction between the State Customs Service and the WCO and noted the positive development of bilateral cooperation: over the past two years, Turkmenistan has become a member of 4 customs conventions.

The participation of a GTCS employee in the Career Development Program of the World Customs Organization for 2023-2024 was also noted with satisfaction.

Next, the Secretary General got acquainted with the work of the customs service, inspected the building, office premises, and library. A video about the activities carried out by GTST was presented at the situation center.

Having visited a small museum where the entire history of the formation and development of the customs service of Turkmenistan is collected, Kunio Mikuriya left an entry in a memorial book for honored guests, the source notes.
