A weightlifter from Turkmenistan became a bronze medalist at the Grand Prix tournament in Doha

Turkmen weightlifter Bunyad Rashidov won gold in the snatch and bronze in the combined event at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Grand Prix Olympic qualifying tournament taking place in Doha (Qatar).

23 years old Rashidov achieved this success in the weight category up to 67 kg, in which 14 athletes were entered. The athlete showed a result of 298 kg (snatch 141, clean and jerk 157).

As a result, the Turkmen weightlifter was 2 kg behind the 2022 European champion Ivan Dimov (Bulgaria) and 19 kg behind the silver medalist of the XIX Summer Asian Games in Hangzhou Won Ju Ri (North Korea).

Turkmenistan is represented at this tournament by 13 weightlifters (9 men and 4 women). Today, in the men's weight category up to 81 kg, 23 years old Maksad Meredov and 20 years old Gagysyz Torayev will take to the platform.

The International Weightlifting Federation Grand Prix in Doha will end on December 14.
