February 6, 2024 is the anniversary of the devastating earthquake that claimed the lives of almost 60 thousand people in Türkiye and Syria.Entire cities were wiped off the face of the earth, leaving behind only ruins, writes “MIR 24”.
Within 24 hours, dozens of powerful tremors destroyed 160 thousand buildings, trapping about 60 thousand people under the rubble.A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7,8 affected 11 Turkish provinces and several Syrian cities.
The world did not remain indifferent to the tragedy. Hundreds of states provided assistance to the victims, providing humanitarian aid, rescue workers and financial resources.
A year later, Türkiye remembers those who helped cope with the disaster: rescuers, volunteers, doctors, and also mourns the victims. About 700 thousand people are still homeless.
