Amendments and additions were made to the Law of Turkmenistan “On migration”

Turkmenistan has adopted a Law on Amendments and Amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan “On Migration”.

In particular, in the Law of Turkmenistan “On migration”, adopted on March 31, 2012, the additions touched on part 6 of article 29 regarding the procedure for issuing a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan for leaving Turkmenistan and entering Turkmenistan. Namely, after the fourth paragraph, an addition was made with the following content:

“In cases where citizens of Turkmenistan temporarily staying or permanently residing in foreign countries cannot leave foreign states for Turkmenistan for reasons beyond their control, the validity of their passports, with expired or expiring validity periods, may be extended on the basis of a Presidential Decree Turkmenistan”.

In part 3 of Article 42 regarding the registration of citizens of Turkmenistan, foreign citizens, stateless persons residing in the territory of Turkmenistan, at the place of residence and place of stay, the first paragraph after the words “by the relevant hyakimliks” is supplemented with the words “on the basis of written or electronic requests from individuals and legal entities, and the documents attached to them”.

And also after the first paragraph, it was supplemented with the following paragraph: “Registered citizens by the migration service bodies and hyakimliks are issued registration certificates in writing or in the form of an electronic document”.

The law on making additions and amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan “On migration” was published in today's issue of the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan” and comes into effect from the day of its official publication.
