Ashgabat schoolchildren obliged to make money contributions for the disinfection campaign

On the first school day after the spring break Ashgabat schoolchildren have been informed that they have to make money contributions of 100 manats for the disinfection campaign.

The school administrations did not specify whether this initiative is a reimbursement for the disinfection which was carried out during the spring break or for future disinfection campaigns.

Parents of schoolchildren from several Ashgabat schools told a correspondent of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” that they are unable to pay such an amount as the prices for essential groceries have gone up and are still increasing. In case they fail to make payments, teachers will be threatening students and giving their children lower grades at exams.

It should be highlighted that despite the global pandemic of coronavirus, no confirmed cases have been recorded in Turkmenistan, as viewed by the authorities.Turkmen schoolchildren continue to study in a regular mode despite the fact that school holidays were extended for a week from 30 March until 6 April, 2020.

During this time disinfection campaigns were carried out in schools.
