Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Transports 15,000th Container

The 15,000th container has been transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line, AzerNews reported on Wednesday.

The 15,000th container was part of the freight train running on the route Turkmenistan-Turkey.

The 40-foot container filled with polypropylene was transported from Turkmensitan’s Turkmenbashi Port to Azerbaijan’s Baku Port by a Silver Star feeder ship operated by the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) OJSC and ADY Container, TULM told Business Turkmenistan. TULM arranged the dispatch of the cargo from Turkmenistan.

Afterwards, the container was transported from Azerbaijan to Turkey via Georgia’s Akhalkalaki station by ADY Container.

The BTK line, launched in October 2017, connects Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia, establishing a link between Europe and China. So far, 21,260 TEU containers have been transported via the BTK line. Since the beginning of 2020, this figure reached 10,779 TEU.
