Berdymukhammedov orders to boost production of oil and petroleum products

The state information agency TDH reports that on 10 September, 2021 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a session to review the performance of the Cabinet of Ministers for the past eight months.

Despite the positive progress report made by Deputy Prime Minister Shakhym Abdrakhmanov overseeing oil and gas, the President emphasized that the volume of oil production needs to be increased, the capacity of oil refineries needs to be fully utilized and the production of liquefied gas needs to be boosted.

The head of state instructed that the above-mentioned issues be discussed with researchers and scientists. In addition, prospective deposits with large oil reserves should be analyzed and the performance of state holdings “Turkmen geologia” (Turkmen geology) and “Turkmenneft” (Turkmen oil) needs be reviewed to execute these tasks.

Berdymukhammedov reminded that oil refineries are being modernized with the government support and charged officials with utilizing the full capacity of oil refineries and increasing efforts to attract investments in the oil and gas sector.

The Deputy Prime Minister was also instructed to review the situation in the oil and gas sectors in order to improve their performance.

It should be emphasized that the President expresses discontent with the performance of the oil and gas sector on a regular basis and gives the same instructions to responsible officials.
