Bible from “The Shawshank Redemption” sold at auction

The Bible, in which the hero of the film “The Shawshank Redemption” kept a geological hammer, was sold at auction for 387,5 thousand pounds sterling or 440 thousand USD, writes Business Insider.

The Bible is one of the most important elements of the plot of the film - the main character, Andy Dufresne, hid a geological hammer in a recess in its pages, with the help of which, after more than 20 years of imprisonment, he escaped from prison.

The bible used as props on the set of “The Shawshank Redemption” was one of a kind, as the process of carving a hole for a hammer in the pages is quite laborious.

The 1994 film, starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, is based on Stephen King's novel “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption”.
