Bill Gates shares four tips for a successful life

The co-founder of the technology company Microsoft, American billionaire Bill Gates, formulated four tips that permit people to navigate to achieve personal success in life, reports gazeta.ru, quoting a businessman from Inc.

“Don't compare yourself to anyone in this world. If you do this, you insult yourself”, - Gates said. The businessman believes that comparing oneself with others is a trap for further development. This leads to self-doubt and unnecessary anxiety.

Gates' second piece of advice is to appreciate mistakes and learn from them. “It's nice to celebrate success, but it's more important to learn from failure”.

According to the billionaire, success is often perceived in the category of “all or nothing”. This interpretation generates a fear of failure and hinders attempts to experiment in their own affairs.

Gates also recommended that a person take responsibility for his life, including in matters of personal financial independence. “If you were born poor, it is not your fault. But if you die poor, it's your fault”, - he said.

Poverty due to economic hardship or social disadvantage in childhood is not a choice people make consciously. However, the trajectory of a person's life can be significantly affected by decisions taken in the future to break out of the vicious circle of poverty, Gates is sure.

Gates' fourth piece of advice was the importance of dealing with feelings of complacency during successful periods of life. “Success is a bad teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose”, - Microsoft co-founder explained.

The entrepreneur concluded that this feeling leads to complacency, unwillingness to try new things and develop further. To combat this, a person needs to encourage new ideas and not be afraid to take risky decisions.
