Chinese company will reward employees for running

The Chinese paper manufacturing company Dongpo Paper has decided to replace the traditional annual bonus with monthly bonuses for the number of kilometers that employees run, reports novosti.kg with reference to the South China Morning Post.

The new bonus system is based on employees receiving a full bonus for driving 50 kilometers per month. For 40 kilometers the premium is 60%, for 30 kilometers - 30%, and for 100 kilometers - 130% of the premium. Running can be partially replaced by mountain climbing or race walking. The results are recorded using mobile applications installed on employee smartphones.

Company director Lin Zhiyong believes that healthy employees are more productive. Zhiyong himself is an active athlete and has conquered Everest twice. For the past three years, he has been motivating employees to exercise regularly so that they can learn to enjoy it.

In turn, employees positively perceived the new bonus system. One of them said that this permits you to “improve your health and get paid for it at the same time”.
