Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that on 5 July, 2020 a medical doctor who was admitted to hospital on 3 July with COVID-19 symptoms died.
On 6 July the woman’s body was handed over to her relatives with a request not to unpack a plastic bag it had been wrapped in.
The family members were also advised to bury the woman as soon as possible without any ceremonies involving a large number of people.They were also recommended to refrain from holding commemoration ceremonies which are held on the 3rd and 7th days.
Healthcare practitioners indicated pneumonia as a cause of death.
At the same time, an increasing number of people wearing masks can be currently seen in Ashgabat. Bus drivers get one mask per shift which lasts over 8 hours.
Masks are available at the price of 1 manat per piece in the round-the-clock pharmacy located on Alisher Navoi street.Residents are queuing up to purchase masks which are sold with a restriction of 5 pieces per person.
Some people have to stand in line a few times to be able to buy more masks.
On 12 July, 2020 Turkmenistan’s Healthcare Ministry called on residents to wear medical masks under the pretext of increased dust сontent in the air brought with the wind from the south-east, north-east and the north across the entire country.
