Dashoguz state-run shops ask for cash payments

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” that bank cards have been previously used to pay for purchases in privately-owned stores of Dashoguz. The state-run retail outlets have started asking for payments in cash.

People join the queue in front of ATMs starting from 5 a.m. but no everybody managed to make withdrawals. Police officers on duty in front of cash machines have to prevent fights which break out in the queues.

The news outlet Turkmen News has reported an incident involving bladed weapons which occurred in the city.

A few days ago in the etrap named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi a person from the queue lining up in front of cash machine, assaulted the man who was withdrawing cash from 20 bank cards, with a knife.

When he was withdrawing cash from the fifteenth card, the ATM ran out of cash.

“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported that queues for cash withdrawals are also being formed in Ashgabat, which also results in violation of social distancing requirement and the spread of viral infections.
