Demolished houses near the old airport to be replaced with a recreational zone

The demolition of buildings located near the old airport is drawing to a close in Ashgabat.

Only the building of secondary school №21 and extensions to it will remain intact in this district along Gagarin street. A hotel is being built in front of it.

According to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, a recreational zone and a pedestrian walking area is scheduled to be built instead of demolished buildings. Now the area is being cleared of construction debris.

Radio “Azatlyk” has previously reported that except school №21, school №8 has not been demolished in the residential districts located near the Ashgabat airport.

The media outlet Turkmen news published the address by the inhabitants of the dormitory owned by Turkmenistan Airlines. The authorities of Ashgabat are trying to evict 47 families of the Airlines because of the building demolition.

“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” reported that the demolition campaign was launched in mid December 2019.
